1.  Items Discussed by Board prior to Start of Player Draft

a. Limiting draft list to 84 players – 7 local teams with 12 players/team
Subsequent to the 8/4/21 Board/Player Draft meeting, SB conferred, telephonically, with all Board members regarding limiting the draft to 84 players.  Four of the five Board members agreed; RB dissented.

As a result, RB requested that this topic be discussed prior to the start of conducting the balance of the draft.

RB voiced his concern that the five players (R. Ross, J. Hazelwood, P. Ballard, G. McLaughlin, and E. Rushing) being excluded from the draft, be included in the draft.  Again, after discussing the topic, without vote, but by general consensus, the Board’s (RB dissenting) decision to restrict the draft to 84 players was confirmed.

SB confirmed that the following would be the “current” order of availability, depending on the rating of the player leaving a team and the ratings of the five players, for one of the five individuals to be placed on a team: Ross, Hazelwood, Ballard, McLaughlin, and Rushing.

Without vote, but by unanimous consensus, the Board agreed that Ross, Hazelwood, and Ballard would have to make arrangements to come to a BP to be rated by the Board, and that this must be done prior to 9/1/21.  If this is not accomplished by that date, the individual(s) in question will be removed from the pool/waiting list until such time as the player gets rated.  SB was requested to notify the players of all of the decisions relative to this topic impacting them.

(Subsequent to the Board meeting, SB sent an e-mail to the three individuals in question.)

b. Proposed Manager Assistant and Player Commuting Policies

(1)   Attached with the FINAL 8/4/21 Board minutes sent to the Board, JH included drafts of the two proposed policies for the Board members to review at the 8/9/21 Board/Player Draft meeting.
(2)   At the meeting, JH reviewed the highlights of each proposed policy.
(3)   Separately, JH motioned and GS seconded that the Board adopt the two proposed policies.
Each motion passed, separately 5-0.

c. AED Training and Opening Day Game Times
SB reaffirmed that M. Fagan will conduct AED training on 8/23, with a 30 minute time slot allotted at 9:30 am.  He indicated that he spoke to Adrian Williams, GM at BLD who indicated that games can start at 8:00 am on 8/23 and the gates will open at 7:00 am.

d. “Potluck” BBQ on Opening Day
The general consensus of the Board is to try to have an opening day BBQ in BLD parking lot after completion of all games.  All 9 teams will be present on opening day.  RB will check with a contact from Farmer Boys to see if any food can be “donated”.  It was discussed that otherwise, people would bring their own food to the BBQ.
There was no consensus about whether the league should subsidize some of this BBQ.

(Subsequent to the draft, SB spoke to RB and RS.  RB’s contact is away for 3 weeks so there will be no donations possible from this source at this time.  RS indicated that he’s unable to secure any donations at this time as well.  As a result, the decision was made to cancel the Potluck BBQ at this point in time.  SB communicated this decision, via e-mail, on 8/17/21, to all league players.)

2. Conducting Player Draft – SB covered the following items for managers prior to the start of the draft

a. There will be 84 players in the draft and identified the three individuals who will not be included in the draft.

b. Again covered some players that would miss games because of surgery, absences (Lopez, Gingerelli, Wood), etc.

c. Reminded managers that Buyak/Ziemer and Herrera/Littlejohn are tandems that must be selected on the same team.

d. Provided handouts –

Lineup Cards

e. Informed managers that games will start at 8:00 am opening day 8/23 due to devoting 30 minutes at 9:30 am, during which M. Fagan will conduct AED training.  Managers were encouraged to get some of their players to attend.

f.  Informed managers of $45 league fee for the 2021 Fall Season

g. Mentioned the MVUDSS waiver form and that players would also have to sign a BLD waiver.

h. Gave a brief overview of the two new policies, Manager Assistant and Player Commuting, that were approved by the Board.

i. Reiterated that COVID-19 protocols are presently suspended, but that could change at any time.
