  • Runners on first or third base are permitted to leave the base prior to the pitch; however, they must re-establish contact with the base before attempting to advance. While leading off, runners must remain behind or parallel to the base and are not permitted to lead off in front of the base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    2025 SSUSA Rule Changes<\/div>\n
    \n

    Several rule changes\/clarifications were approved by the SSUSA Rules Committee that occurred on December 4-6, 2024. \u00a0Effective as of December 6, 2024. \u00a0MVUDSS will review the following changes and determine if it will adopt them into its 2025 Spring and 2025 Fall Seasons:<\/p>\n

    \u00a71.29 \u2022 BATTERS BOX AND \u00a77.3 \u2022 BATTING POSITION <\/b>\u201cThe batter must take an initial position with his back foot no further forward than a line defining the front edge of home plate.<\/del> The batter will be called out if he hits the ball when the back foot is completely further forward than the line defining the front edge of home plate. NOTE: All other illegally batted ball infractions regarding the side and rear lines of the batter\u2019s box, along with stepping on home plate, remain in effect.\u201d
    \n\u2022 PASSED: 5-1-4 \u00a0Not adopted by MVUDSS.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u00a73.4(4) \u2022 ALTERED EQUIPMENT<\/b> \u2013 Proposal to ban the use of bat warmers was presented, adopting the USA Softball rule that states: \u201c[T]he characteristics of any approved equipment cannot be unnaturally changed. Examples include icing, cooling, or heating of any equipment. In addition, approved bats shall not be rolled, shaved, or modified to change their characteristics from those produced by the manufacturer. Warming devices for bats are not approved.\u201d
    \n\u2022 PASSED: 9-1-0 \u00a0Not adopted by MVUDSS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Rules & Policies Additions \/ Changes<\/h3>\n

    The following league<\/strong> rules were added\/clarified\/modified for the 2025 Spring and Fall Seasons:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Rule 8.c. Pickup Players for Tournament Play<\/del><\/span>
      \nA missing full-time local player rated a 1, 2, or 3 cannot<\/span> be replaced by a \u201cpickup player\u201d with a higher draft \u201cnumber\u201d (1-72) than the missing player.<\/del><\/span>
      \nThere will be no change in picking up players for missing players rated 4, 5, or 6.<\/del><\/span><\/li>\n
    • Rule 21. Pitching Screen<\/span> – clarification<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The following policy<\/strong> was added for the 2025 Spring and Fall Seasons:<\/p>\n

      League Fees<\/div>\n
      \n

      $70<\/strong>\/player league fee for the 2025 Fall Season. \u00a0Due on opening day.
      \nPayable to Edward Rushing (not MVUDSS).<\/p>\n

      Pitching Screens<\/div>\n
      \n

      The Monday league board of directors has unanimously agreed that pitching screens are to be used only for Monday league games, batting practices, and other league-sanctioned events.
      \nThey are not to be used for any purpose other than the intended use.<\/p>\n
